Deonna Purrazzo had quite the night at Slammiversary, as she was met with two huge surprises in Nashville.
Thunder Rosa was revealed as Deonna Purrazzo’s mystery opponent at Slammiversary on Saturday night. Despite the teases that it might be other competitors like Chelsea Green, Mickie James or the IIconics, Thunder Rosa made her way to the ring after Purrazzo entered first.
Purrazzo was successful in defending her title against Thunder Rosa, the former NWA Women’s Champion, ensuring her 240+ day reign will continue. The surprises weren’t done after the three count, however, as Mickie James did ultimately make a surprise appearance at the event.
James wasn’t the opponent for Slammiversary, but she came to the ring after the match and said she wanted to invite Deonna to Empowerrr. “The Virtuosa” took issue with Mickie interrupting her moment and took a shot at Mickie, telling her to take her trash bag and get out of her ring. Mickie then slapped her and kicked her in the face, and the champion ended up retreating to the ramp.
Slammiversary marked the IMPACT debut for Thunder Rosa, while Mickie made her first appearance with the company since July 2015.
