Drew McIntyre Earns WWE Championship Rematch At WrestleMania Backlash, Gets Attacked By Retribution

Drew McIntyre will challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship one more time.

In a star-studded WWE RAW main event, McIntyre, Braun Strowman and Randy Orton clashed in a triple threat match to determine Bobby Lashley’s next challenger. Earlier in the show, all three men made their case as to why they deserve a title shot. WWE Official Adam Pearce booked this three-way match to determine the top contender.

Early on, McIntyre floored Strowman by blasting him with the steel stairs, and Orton suplexed the former WWE Champion onto the broadcast table. McIntyre and Orton renewed their rivalry that spanned most of 2020, as they battled it out for the right to challenge for the gold. “The Viper” tossed McIntyre into the broadcast area, but Strowman trucked over Orton at ringside.

Strowman blasted Orton with the steel steps and gained control of the match. But “The Legend Killer” promptly dropped Strowman with a spike DDT. He nearly won the match by dropping Strowman with an RKO, but McIntyre stole the win by pinning Orton after a modified Claymore.

After the bell, Mace and T-Bar dropped McIntyre with a double chokeslam while MVP looked on.
