This is the way.
At NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver Night Two, Johnny Gargano defended the NXT North American Championship against Bronson Reed.
NXT’s resident “Thicc Boi” easily overpowered Reed throughout the match, forcing Gargano to use his veteran expertise to counter the big man.

“The Iron Man of NXT” grounded Reed as much as he could, but “The Colossal One” rallied and slammed Gargano. A chokeslam gave Reed more momentum. The competitors went back and forth, and Gargano took control with a poison-rana. He locked in the Gargano Escape, but Reed escaped.
Reed threw Gargano into the ring with a Razor’s Edge, but the champion dodged a splash. Austin Theory broke up a pin when Reed seemingly had the title won. Gargano dove onto Reed, but the big man tossed him into Theory.

Reed floored Gargano with a kick to the face, but the champion dodged a moonsault and hit One Final Beat two times for the win.
The challenger won the right to challenge Gargano by winning a Gauntlet Eliminator Match on the first night of the event. As a three-time NXT North American Champion, Gargano has already made history, and each title defense is another feather in his cap.
