Roman Reigns is confident that the return of live fans at WWE WrestleMania 37 will be safe for everyone involved.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Reigns explained why he’s confident in WWE’s COVID-19 safety precautions.
“I think, with all the safety protocols that we’ve established since I came back, you know, with all the precautions that we take to make sure I’m isolated to where I’m not heavily interacting with anyone outside of the people that I’m actually in the ring with, all the way to the weekly testing, I don’t think WrestleMania’s gonna be any different,” said Reigns. “You know, our safety precautions are second to none. We’re gonna create an opportunity where everybody is gonna be as safe as they could be.”
Reigns also described these protocols, including pods for social distancing and the mandated usage of face masks.
“The Tribal Chief” also offered his thoughts about how unique this WrestleMania will be, given that it will mark the first show with live fans in over a year. Plus, he stated that he’s excited to see the in-person response to his new “Head of the Table” persona.
“This one’s special because, as we all know, we’ve been in the ThunderDome, we haven’t had the live audience, and our whole business is built around the interaction with fans and the reactions that we create, that atmosphere that’s unlike any other form of entertainment,” said Reigns. “So for me, it’s gonna be really cool to be able to get back to kind of a little bit of normalcy and get some fans in the stadium and really gauge them and see where we stand with the body of work that we’ve presented since SummerSlam.
“It’s one thing to be able to see it on the internet and social media and stuff like that. But to be able to feel the crowd and let them know they feel about their ‘Tribal Chief,’ I guess, it’ll be cool.”
It’s important to note that Reigns opted out of WWE WrestleMania 36, and he went on hiatus until WWE SummerSlam 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As someone who had battled leukemia, Reigns could have had a higher risk for contracting COVID-19.
