New Japan Pro-Wrestling continued the G1 Climax on Wednesday. Kota Ibushi lost his tenuous lead in A Block with a loss to Shingo Takagi in the main event. With that loss, A Block is a four-way tie for first with Jay White, Kota Ibushi, Kazuchika Okada & Will Ospreay all with 8 points each.
The show saw its share of rare, if not outright first-time, matchups. Jay White & Taichi especially had fun feeling each other out. Both men are natural heels, so the douchebag collision that followed was a truly entertaining spectacle.
Takagi’s main event win over Ibushi not only cost Ibushi the lead in A-Block, it continued Takagi’s reign as spoiler. He’s already beaten Ospreay, and he’s set to face Okada next. If Takagi beats The Rainmaker, he could very possibly win the block or give it to Jay White, the only leader to beat The Dragon so far.
