Zelina Vega Says Her TNA Run Helped Her Grow As A Performer: ‘Now I’m The Butterfly That I’m Supposed To Be’

Zelina Vega recently appeared on D-Von Dudley’s podcast, Table Talk, where she discussed various topics. Vega reflected on her successful 2020, her time in Total Nonstop Action (TNA), and more. Here are some highlights:

On her time with TNA:

Vega: “I think it was good for what it was. I was young at the time, I was 19 years old when I got signed, when you think about it, so it’s like forever ago. But I needed that experience because it introduced me to Sarita, who’s still someone that I consider my cousin, we were on-screen cousins. But you know, she’s considered family. And I went to Mexico and I got to train at CMLL, which is funny because that’s when I met Andrade initially, was in 2011.”

“It was good for what it was, and maybe they just thought, ‘Oh, we’re not gonna take a chance on her,’ which is weird because people like you, I remember you constantly were always going to bat for me, Kurt Angle was going to bat for me, Sting was always going to bat for me. And I remember the day he had passed by Dixie [Carter] and said, ‘We should put a title on that one.’ And I was like what? And the next day, Terry Taylor comes up to me and he goes, ‘Hey kid, we’re giving you the tag titles, you’re winning it tonight and you’re getting the pin.’ It was a great experience, it was something that I needed to grow as a performer.”

“Now I feel like I’m the butterfly that I’m supposed to be. All that was like my cocoon stage, but now I’m the butterfly that I’m supposed to be.”
