NJPW Summer Struggle In Jingu Results (8/29) Darkness Passes, New Champions Crowned

New Japan Pro Wrestling returned to Jingu Stadium for the first time in 21 years on Saturday. The show had five title matches, and crowned the first holder of the KOPW 2020 trophy.

The biggest story of the night was Tetsuya Naito avenging his Dominion loss to EVIL and regain the IWGP Double Championships. In doing so, Naito broke the record for most IWGP Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship reigns with 6. Naito celebrated the win with a fireworks display.

New NEVER and IWGP Jr. Heavyweight champions were also crowned at the event, and Toru Yano is the first man to hold the KOPW 2020 trophy. Yano will have to defend the trophy until Dec. 31st, at which point the official title holder will be crowned and the results reset.
