If you tuned into RAW at any point in the last few months of 2019, you’re aware of a big storyline between former WWE star Rusev and current #1 Contender Bobby Lashley. Following the reveal that Lana had divorced Rusev to join up with Lashley, the two warriors engaged in psychological and limited physical warfare for a long while. The segments gave us plenty of “memorable” moments, but the big match payoff never came. In a talk with DigitalSpy, Lashley admitted that he knows about as much as the audience when it comes to why things played out that way.
I really don’t know what happened to tell you the truth. I think we were at the point where the revenge needed to happen and it didn’t. I don’t know where we could have went or where we were going to go with it. I just wish that I could have had the match that I wanted to have with Rusev.
Lashley compliments the departed WWE star, saying that he’s seen some great matches of his. Lashley just wishes that he could have continued that legacy. “We had a full head of steam, people wanted Rusev to rip my arms off and beat me with them.”
Lashley will have to settle for a shot against Drew McIntyre at Backlash, and we’ll see if Lana sticks by his side or if MVP can pry her away for good and destroy any remnants of this angle.
