Moose On IMPACT’s Growth, Wrestling Promotions Struggling To Sign Talent Long-Term

Moose recently spoke with Wrestlezone’s Bill Pritchard about how IMPACT was starting to make a splash in the live event scene over the past few months, including the recent A-Town Beatdown event in his hometown of Atlanta. Moose said IMPACT’s growth has been a great thing but one thing they—and most other companies—need to figure out is how to keep talent signed for longer periods.

“IMPACT has been growing steadily in the past year and a half, two years, and it’s all been great. You mentioned we’re doing house shows,” Moose said, “and you can see yourself we’ve been great on TV, and it’s only going to get better. I’m happy I’m a part of it.”

I asked if having more potential destinations is a good problem for talent to have and a bad one for promotions, and he noted that there’s not a huge pool out there but they need to keep plugging away and doing their part.

“The wrestling business, in general, is great, it’s just a weird place. A guy will be here for a year, then you’ll see him on AEW TV, or a guy will be here for two years and end up going to WWE or Ring Of Honor. It’s just how the wrestling industry is. You can’t expect a guy to be in one company forever, you know? Part of the struggle we have is keeping guys here long-term,” Moose said, “but we’re not the only company that has those struggles. Every other company faces that.”

Moose has been part of some memorable matches over the past year but hasn’t had a title opportunity in several months. He was asked how he gets back in the title picture and Moose said it’s not too much of concern of his because he could easily jump right back into things.

“It’s not something that I’m losing sleep over. If I wanted a world title shot, I could easily get one,” Moose quipped. “There’s a lot of things that I’m trying to prove and to build on, work on before I step back into the picture.”
