FOX has confirmed WWE SmackDown Live will air on a new night, moving to Fridays when they join the network this Fall.
FOX announced their full primetime lineup earlier today and confirmed SmackDown would remain as a two-hour show, and would air Friday nights in it’s familiar 8-10 pm timeslot. (SmackDown has aired on Fridays before, airing on that night from 2005-2015 before moving to Thursdays, and its most recent Tuesday night slot)
SmackDown replaces Last Man Standing on the schedule; the comedy starring Tim Allen will return to the FOX schedule in 2020 (as will Seth McFarlane’s The Orville).
“We wanted to let the creative community know that Fox is not only open for business but we feel like we’re stronger than ever,” said Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier. The network will have 10 new scripted series in total, which is double last year’s total, but most will be held for 2020 and midseason premieres as they move to focus on live sports in the Fall.
