While Dana White announced that Brock Lesnar had “retired,” it wasn’t the full story. According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar and the organization had been negotiating a deal for him to come back and fight Daniel Cormier for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. However, Lesnar wanted a different structured deal after UFC moved from traditional pay-per-view to being sold exclusively on ESPN+.
Lesnar wanted a guaranteed amount rather than a percentage of the pay-per-view. UFC didn’t agree with the number and that’s why the Cormier-Miocic rematch is now verbally agreed to. Thus, it’s looking like Lesnar will continue to do limited dates in WWE rather than go back to mixed martial arts.
