CM Punk Speaks Out About Shaming Martial Artists After Last Place Finish In BJJ Tourney

While CM Punk’s mixed martial arts career didn’t exactly go as planned, that hasn’t stopped the former WWE Champion from practicing his trade. Recently, he took place in a novice Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament under his real name of Phil Brooks. The good news is that he had a podium finish as he came in third place overall. The bad news was that only three people were in his 199.99-pound weight class.

After a journalist mocked his finish, Punk chimed in. “Why is anyone in the martial arts community letting him try to shame people from competing?” wrote Punk. “Kids especially. People of all ages read Twitter and don’t need this twats opinion to discourage them from accomplishing goals.”

While it’s easy to take shots at the performance, it’s great to see him still practicing jiu-jitsu and looking to improve. After all, martial arts are all about self-improvement. Here’s to some better finishes in the future.
