Adam Cole’s waist has looked a bit empty for a while now. Since losing the NXT North American Championship this past August to Ricochet, he’s been on the hunt to reclaim gold ever since. Tonight on NXT, Cole got a bit of revenge on his old rival, pinning him in a fatal five-way to determine Johnny Gargano’s opponent at NXT TakeOver New York.

As announced earlier by Triple H, Gargano and Cole will fight a two out of three falls match to determine a definitive NXT Champion. Previous titleholder Tommaso Ciampa is out with a neck injury that could sideline him for quite some time.
