It was heavily speculated and reported that the WrestleMania 35 main event had a botched ending, and now Fightful is reporting that the referee for the match has been punished. While he doesn’t have any heat backstage, Rod Zapata was pulled aside by Vince McMahon during Monday Night RAW and was fined for the error. McMahon said that he should’ve waited until Ronda Rousey‘s shoulders were down to count and that if there was an error it’d be on the performers at that point.
Additionally, there was an issue in the tag match between Aleister Black & Ricochet and Chad Gable & Bobby Roode. Referee Dan Engler was also fined due to a spot being messed up. It wasn’t a big issue, but McMahon is trying to set an example going forward.
