Steffanie Newell To Get A Shot At PROGRESS Women’s Title

PROGRESS Wrestling has announced a huge match for the PROGRESS Women’s Championship at the Chapter 71: FEELINGCALLEDPROGRESS event.

The current PROGRESS Women’s Champion Jinny will be defending her title against current WWE NXT signee Steffanie Newell.

Jinny won the title at Chapter 69: Be Here Now event in May, and will be defending it against someone who hasn’t even been in a PROGRESS ring since more than a year ago. Steffanie Newell was last seen in PROGRESS on Chapter 45: Galvanzie which took place in March 19, 2017.

Jinny’s last indy match was in April last year against Joey Ryan at IPW Extreme Measures which she won for the DDT Pro-Wrestling’s Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship.

Steffanie would then go on to get signed for the Mae Young Classic, which would have been her debut in the WWE. Unfortunately, she tore her ACL and had to be replaced by Miranda Salinas in the tournament.

With her first match in a NXT live event being a tag team match with Dakota Kai, Steffanie prepares for a bout for the Women’s Title at her home in the UK.

The event will take place on June 10th at the O2 Academy in Sheffield, England.
