AJ Styles wanted to focus on Shinsuke Nakamura, but Samoa Joe issued a warning that resulted in the WWE Championship taking another low blow on tonight’s episode of Smackdown.
Styles spoke with Renee Young in the ring about retaining his title at Backlash, saying Nakamura was interested in the wrong jewels. When Styles was asked about a potential apology, he called Nakamura a coward, and said this Sunday will be different, because he can break the rules in their match at Backlash too. Styles said Nakamura could come face him if he had a problem, but Samoa Joe came out instead and said Styles is losing focus on what is important.
Joe said Styles should be concerned with his arm getting raised on Sunday, because once he beats Roman Reigns he’s coming for the title, regardless of who is holding it after Backlash. He says whoever has the WWE Championship will have to deal with him, then Nakamura came out and hit Styles with another low blow and mocked him after hitting a Kinshasa.
