Rusev won a #1 Contender’s Battle Royal on WWE RAW to become the new challenger to Kalisto’s United States Championship.
The final five saw former League of Nations members Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio and Rusev, Sin Cara and Zack Ryder. Alberto eliminates Sin Cara, then the former stablemates go after each other before Sheamus is eliminated. Rusev throws Alberto on the apron and celebrates prematurely, and Alberto knees Rusev but Zack dropkicks Alberto off the apron. Zack put up a heck of a fight, connecting with some strikes and a Broski Boot, but Rusev reversed a whip towards the ropes and eliminated Zack to win.
Kalisto watched from commentary as Rusev celebrated his win with Lana, who came down to ringside after the match.
