Sami Callihan: Barbed Wire Massacre Is A Party For Me, It’s Just Another Friday Night

Sami Callihan is prepared for a regular night at the office at Victory Road… but his opponents might not agree.

Barbed Wire Massacre is set to take place at IMPACT Wrestling’s Victory Road on Friday, and Sami Callihan spoke with WrestleZone about what’s in store at the event. Callihan is a veteran in the match, competing in his third one in IMPACT. His first was a six-man tag match, while the most recent was a battle against Eddie Edwards at Hard To Kill in 2021, so he’s well-versed as far as knowing how far to take things.

Asked how he aims to make this one stand out, Callihan said that he looks at this like a party and he’ll prove he can work any type of match out there.

“There’s been singles, there’s been tags. But I think this is the very first three-way one. And going into it, you said it there, it’s safe to assume that there’s going to be blood. 100%. Anytime there’s barbed wire, there’s going to be blood. I’ve been in there, a guy like Moose…Moose has got a little hardcore in his past before, so Moose knows what to expect. But I don’t think soldier boy, Steve Maclin really knows what’s going to happen to him in this matchup. He wants to talk about how he’s been to war. He wants to talk about how he’s built for stuff like this. I really don’t think he knows exactly what he’s getting themselves into.

“It’s just another Friday night for me, I’ve said that before. People like to party, I like to party. This is a party for the Death Machine. I’ve been in matches like this all over the world. I don’t really claim myself to be just a deathmatch wrestler. I claim myself to be the most versatile, professional wrestler walking today. Any style you put me in, I’m going to be successful. But I’d be lying if I’m saying that I haven’t been in matches like this before. Like I said, all over the world. I’ve been through matches like cage of death. I’ve been through matches with glass all around the ring in Japan; this is just another Friday night for the Death Machine.”

During a recent live stream, Callihan said he wanted a Taipei deathmatch against Maclin. While Barbed Wire Massacre won’t have that stipulation, the possibilities for anything are certainly present and Callihan says he wants to keep pushing toward bringing matches like that to the forefront.

“Oh, I’m going to tell you right now, it’s going to be crazy. You don’t know what you’re going to get. Hell, I don’t even know what craziness I’m going to get into. As far as Taipei deathmatches go, that is something I’d love to bring to IMPACT Wrestling eventually at this point in my career. I want to do stuff that maybe have been relegated to the underground scene, stuff that people on a national scale, on a worldwide scale, has never seen before on the forefront of television. So anything I can bring from that realm to the television realm is something I want to do 100%.
