EC3’s Control Your Narrative promotion recently came under fire, prompting “The Essential Character” to take to Reddit to try and denounce any of the recent allegations.
The situation in question began on when one user on the popular Squared Circle subreddit alleged that EC3 and the Control Your Narrative promotion had been funded by many right-wing affiliated groups and organizations, including prominent right-wing voices Dan Bongino and Mike Lindell. The post went on to note that various supplement companies and cryptocurrency firms, were also involved in funding the project. The user went on to state that even former President Donald Trump was involved in the project in some way, although that could not be confirmed.
The writer also discussed various scheduling information for the promotion and alleged that wrestlers who had been “canceled” would be showing up, but clarified that former wrestlers like Teddy Hart, Alberto Del Rio, Court Bauer, and Brett Lauderdale would not be associated with the promotion. Finally, the user noted that Control Your Narrative was set to have a major deal with Rumble, although it was unclear whether that would be a television deal or something else.
Taking to Reddit to conduct his own AMA (Ask Me Anything) thread on the subreddit, EC3 discussed the entire event, calling it “a baffling, yet very detailed and strangely specific, lie,” and detailed what he believed happened. He clearly disavowed neonazism and all forms of hate before he stated that Control Your Narrative isn’t attached to politics whatsoever.
“I am a rational human being,” EC3 wrote in his post. “I disavow neonazism, along with any and all forms of race, gender, orientation, cultural hate. A thread here earlier claimed I am a “neonazi” based on the fact I said a number during an interview making a joke about a discount code for a pillow company. It is an untrue and absurd claim, based on a “joke” I made about an absurd claim (started here) that I and CYN was funded by…… the My Pillow Guy. I was doing the interview to combat the lies and rumors started here. If watching the interview you can tell that I had no idea the number existed as a so called “dog whistle.” The interviewer stated it was obvious I had no idea the number had any ties to any hate speech. I didn’t know the number had association with anything hate related. “
EC3 went on to say that “there is no political motivation, there is no political funding” involved in Control Your Narrative, nor would there be any “misogyny, racism, hate speech, etc.” He did note, however, that there would be talent “with differing opinions” that appear, and said that some may agree or disagree with those views and that if they didn’t want to watch, that was fine.
“I believe in freedom to think, act, feel, and speak regardless of if I agree with what someone says,” wrote Ec3. “I’m aware this is hypocritical from someone who “BANNED MOVES” but in the future, you will see why,” said EC3 in his closing comments. “I believe in forgiveness. It’s an act that brings closure and acceptance. Often forgiveness isn’t for the person who you feel has wronged you. It is for you to be able to move on.”
The promotion’s next event, “Control Your Narrative Awakening: Dallas” is set for March 31.
