Goldberg: My Shoulder Is ‘Destroyed,’ I’ll Get Surgery When I’m Done Wrestling

Goldberg, like WWE itself, seemingly operates by the mindset of “The show must go on.”

On the newest episode of The Pat McAfee Show, the former WWE Universal Champion explained that his shoulder has been “destroyed” for several years, but he’s been putting off the surgery he needs because he wants to be available if, or when, Vince McMahon gives him a call.

“I won’t tell everybody on national radio or television that my shoulder’s been destroyed for the last three years, five years, eight years,” said Goldberg. “And I need surgery, but you know, I’ll get it when I’m done. I’ll get it when I’m finished, [and I’m] none of those things.= Well here’s the deal  if Vince calls me tomorrow morning and says, ‘Hey Goldberg, we need you in a month,’ what am I gonna do if I get surgery, right? So I’ll get ‘er done when it’s time.”

When asked, “Da Man” made it clear that he doesn’t let McMahon know when he’s ready; instead, the WWE Chairman reaches out when he needs the legend, and Goldberg always answers the call.

“He lets me know…,” said Goldberg. “That’s the call you gotta take all the time, man, all the time. I love Vince….”

The WWE Hall of Famer also repeated his previous statement that he only has one match left on his contract.

Goldberg last wrestled at WWE Crown Jewel on October 21; he defeated Bobby Lashley in a No Holds Barred Falls Count Anywhere Match.
