Ric Flair Issues Additional Statement On Sexual Assault Allegations Made Against Him

Ric Flair continues to speak out against the sexual assault allegations made against him.

On Monday, Ric Flair issued a statement in reference to the allegations made against him during the “Plane Ride From Hell” episode of Dark Side of The Ring that aired on September 16.

During an interview on the show, former flight attendant Heidi Doyle described how Flair, who was naked underneath his robe, cornered her in the airplane’s gallery and made unwanted sexual advances, including Flair forcing her to grab his penis. Flair’s initial statement denounced the allegations and called attention to Rory Karpf, director of his 2017 30 For 30 documentary, “Nature Boy,” on ESPN, and said that the allegations against him never happened.

Flair then issued an additional statement to Wrestling Inc on Monday night that said one act he was accused of, which involved spinning his penis around like a “helicopter” (referenced by Tommy Dreamer on Dark Side Of The Ring), was accurate. Flair maintained that this behavior was a result of his issues with alcohol and apologized for that, but said he didn’t force himself on anyone in any way.

“To clarify, the “helicopter” as it was called, is accurate. I wish I could blame it on youth, but it was a case of drinking too much and being inappropriate and I apologize for that (and have countless times over the years).

I made some bad decisions during dark periods in my life, and it is something I’ve spent a significant part of years I was given by the doctors in 2017 trying to make right.

I condemn sexual assault in any way, shape or form. I could (and have) written books (as have others) that have covered my transgressions. I’ve made some terrible decisions, but I’ve never forced myself on anyone in any way. Period,” Flair wrote.

Flair’s initial statement referenced Karpf’s interview with Wrestling Inc’s Nick Hausman that aired on Monday, including how Karpf had never heard the assault allegation at the time of filming his documentary. Over the weekend, CarShield issued a statement claiming they were pausing Flair’s commercial campaign, and WWE has since removed references to Flair on their RAW opening credits and WWEShop.com.
