Collector’s Corner: Mattel WWE Series 100 (Photo)

This week we take a look at Mattel WWE Series 100! It’s crazy to think Mattel has made 100 sets of Basic figures since they started in 2010. This set includes:

  • The Rock
  • Steve Austin
  • Shawn Michaels (with Chase Variant)
  • Undertaker
  • John Cena

This set has all new head scans and commemorates some of the biggest superstars of all time in WWE. I got mine on RingsideCollectibles.com where you can SAVE 10% with discount code MBG at checkout!

The Packaging

Series 100 features some really cool packaging. It’s a slick, all black design with images of the wrestlers inside plus their signature on the back. This is much different than any other Basic series out and it looks really nice if you keep them mint.

The Rock

The Rock features a brand new head scan that looks excellent. He has has long sideburns, too, which is awesome. The likeness is pretty spot on for a young Rock as well. He’s got his typical look with his black trunks, Brahama Bull logos and tattoo and his tall boots that are opened in the back.

Overall, it’s a cool figure mainly due to the scan, as most of these are. It looks like any other Rock figure minus his head scan, which makes the figure that much better.

Steve Austin

Austin finally features a scan that looks just like him in my opinion. His older ones were a hit or miss but this one looks really nice, too. It’s cool he comes with his signature knee braces but these are white and black, something I don’t believe we’ve seen on any Austin figure yet. He also has his tattoo on his leg, which is a nice attention to detail.

Overall, this Austin is great for anyone who wants a new scan as well as the multi-colored knee braces. Other than that it looks like all his others.

Undertaker

This is probably my favorite in the set, even though it looks like all his other figures, but this one has a new head scan with his eyes rolled back and his tongue sticking out. The likeness is spot on, too. He’s super detailed with his tattoos all over his arms, his neck, and even the logos on his tights.

Overall, this is a great figure for any Undertaker fan and it’s nice to see a tongue scan for him as we’ve never had one from Mattel.

John Cena

John is probably the least exciting of the set as I believe it’s the same scan we’ve seen on him as of late but at least he’s wearing a t-shirt he’s never been made in before. The shirt looks great. He also has the Cenation wristbands on his arms.

Overall, if you have one Cena you have them all pretty much. It’s nice they put him in a shirt we’ve never had but the figure itself is nothing too exciting. Still looks nice for any Cena collector though.

Shawn Michaels

Shawn is probably my second favorite of the set. His new scan looks great and looks just like him. The main release version is in his red HBK tights and they’re pretty detailed. The Chase variant is the white/red zebra striped type tights, which unfortunately I didn’t have in my possession at the time of this review but you can still see him in the gallery below.

Overall, these figures are nice as they’re quite detailed. His new scan finally has a good likeness as well, which will really make him sought after for anyone wanting to do some head swaps.

Overall

Overall I do like the set. The figures themselves aren’t anything overly exciting minus the head scans, which is why they’re sought after, but if you’re a mint collector these will look really nice displayed. I do love the clean look of the packaging and it is very unique looking compared to the other Basic figures as of late. As mentioned you can get them on RingsideCollectibles.com where you can SAVE 10% with discount code MBG at checkout!
