It’s almost time for AEW Dynamite Grand Slam!
All Elite Wrestling returns to the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York for Grand Slam. Tony Khan has booked a stacked card for this week’s special edition of Dynamite.
Here’s what’s on tap for AEW Dynamite Grand Slam.
Hangman Page vs. Jeff Jarrett – Lumberjack Strap Match
This feud kicked off at the 2024 Owen Hart Tournament when Adam Page returned as a wild card entrant against Jeff Jarrett. “The Hangman” picked up the win but made an enemy out of Double J in the process. After failing to beat Bryan Danielson in the finals, Page unleashed his fury on Jarrett whom he blamed for the loss.
Both men collided in the Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In. Christian Cage emerged as the winner at Wembley that night. Page concluded his rivalry with Swerve Strickland in a brutal Steel Cage match at All Out. Jarrett promised to take out Page in a Lumberjack Strap match set for Dynamite Grand Slam.
Speaking of Swerve, Prince Nana will provide an update on him tonight at Grand Slam.
Saraya Rules Match on AEW Dynamite Grand Slam
Jamie Hayter made her return to AEW at All In 2024. The former women’s world champion immediately entered into a feud with Saraya.
Hayter’s revenge tour comes to a head when she finally faces Saraya in a match full of rules chosen by Saraya herself tonight on Grand Slam.
HOOK (c) vs. Roderick Strong – FTW Championship
HOOK defends his FTW Championship, which has its origins three miles away from Arthur Ashe (thanks Taz, for the history lesson), against Roderick Strong tonight at AEW Grand Slam.
Matthew & Nicholas Jackson (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher & Will Ospreay – AEW World Tag Team Championship
Fletcher and Ospreay won a tag team title number one contender’s match on the September 11 episode of AEW Dynamite. Ospreay and Fletcher, along with Takeshita, defeated The Elite in a six-man tag team match last Wednesday.
The pair will take on reigning AEW Word Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks tonight on Grand Slam. Ospreay is the reigning AEW International Champion. Fletcher is a former ROH World Television Champion
Trios Championship match on AEW Dynamite Grand Slam
PAC, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta captured the AEW Trios Championship at All In London. At All Out 2024, Jon Moxley led an assault on Bryan Danielson while PAC prevented Yuta from interfering.
Yuta said he’d still defend the trios tag team titles even after witnessing the assault on Danielson. It remains to be seen who will challenge the trio for their titles on this stacked edition of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam.
Mariah May (c) vs. Yuka Sakazaki – AEW Women’s World Championship
Mariah May has been unstoppable since winning the women’s world title at Wembley. Tonight, “The Glamour” puts her title on the line against AEW original Yuka Sakazaki. Mariah and Serena Deeb previously lost to the tag team of Queen Aminata and Sakazaki on 9/18 Dynamite.
Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin – AEW World Championship opportunity
Jox Moxley told Darby Allin to surrender his world title opportunity previously on Dynamite. Darby denied and agreed to put his championship on the line at Arthur Ashe.
For those who don’t know, Darby won the Royal Rampage match back in July to earn a shot at the AEW World Championship.
Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuiness at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam
Tony Khan gave AEW fans CM Punk versus Samoa Joe 18 years after their last match in 2023. Tonight, the wrestling world will see Bryan Danielson take on arguably his biggest rival from Ring Of Honor, Nigel McGuiness, in a rematch that’s been 15 years in the making.
Both men last crossed paths in 2009 at ROH Glory By Honor VIII: The Final Countdown event. McGuiness returned to in-ring action at All In. Danielson hasn’t been seen on television since he was taken out by former BCC members Moxley and Castagnoli at All Out.
WresleZone will have full coverage of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam as it airs.
